Ravi Parikh led a study recently published in JAMA Oncology that tested the impact of behavioral nudges to clinicians to prompt serious illness conversations among high-risk patients. The intervention was associated with increased serious illness conversations for all patients and decreased end-of-life systemic therapy. These results suggest that machine learning and behavioral nudges can lead to long-lasting improvements in cancer care delivery.
